To all to whom these presents shall come know ye, I Richard COKE Governor of the State aforesaid, by virtue of the power vested in me by Law and in accordance with the laws of said State in such case made and provided do by these presents grant to W.B. DILL, his heirs or assigns forever, One Hundred and Sixty 160 acres of Land situated and described as follows:
In Jack County on the waters of Kechi a tributary of Brazos River about 9 miles S from the Town of Jacksboro by virtue of his affidavit made before the Clerk of the District Court for Jack County January 22nd 1876 under "an act for the benefit of actual occupants of the public Lands approved May 26th 1873. Beginning... N. ATKINS... Bearings marked "x".  Hereby Relinquishing to him the said W.B. DILL and his heirs or assigns forever all the rights and title in and to said Land heretofore held and possessed by the said State and I do hereby issue this Letter Patent for the same.
In Testimony whereof I have caused the seal of the State to be affixed as well as the Seal of the General Land Office.

BUTLER Mary ROGERS and William DILL all heirs of Eliza DILL deceased of the County of Jack and State of Texas.  For and in consideration of the sum of One Dollar to us in hand paid by W.B. DILL and the further consideration of the love and affection we have for our Father the said W.B. DILL of the County of Jack and State of Texas the receipt of which is herby acknowledged do by these presents bargain sell release and forever Quit Claim unto the said W.B. DILL his heirs and assigns all our right title and interest in and unto the tract or parcel of Land lying in the County of Jack and State of Texas described as follows to wit:  situated in Jack County Texas on the waters of Keechi Creek a tributary of the Brazos River Beginning 1720... ... N.W. Corner of N. ATKINSON... ...Cottonwood...


 ...To have and to hold the said premises together with all and singular the rights privileges and appurtenances to the same in any manner belonging unto the said W.B. ATKINSON of the County of Jack, State of Texas the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged have granted sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant sell and convey unto the said N. ATKINSON of the County of Jack and State of Texas all that certain 160 acres of Land situated in Jack County, Texas on the waters of Keechi Creek a tributary of the Brazos River about 9 miles South of Jacksboro patented to Wm. B. DILL on the 4th day of May 1883 by Pat. No. 173, Vol. 14 and described by metes and bounds as follows.  Beginning at the most northern N.W. Cor. of M.L. DALTON... ...N.E. Cor W.B. DILL former preemption...  ... J.P. WARD ... To have and to hold the above described premises together with all and singular the rights and appurtenances thereto in any wise belonging unto the said N. ATKINSON his heirs and assign forever. And we do hereby bind ourselves  our heirs executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said N. ATKINSON his heirs and assigns against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.

DALTON of the State and County aforesaid is a minor of the age of eighteen years and is without a guardian; that he selects said Wm. B. DILL to act as his Guardian:  that said Wm. B. DILL is duly qualified under the law to act as Guardian for said minor and prays to be so appointed by your Honorable Court.  --Wm. B. DILL

That applicant resides in Jack County, Texas, and prays that Wm. B. DILL be appointed as his Guardian; that the said applicant is more than 14 years of age and that said Wm. B. DILL be required to give bond as such Guardian in terms of the law.  --TAYLOR and BELL

This day came on to be heard the application of Wm. B. DILL to be appointed Guardian of the Estate of John M. DALTON a minor, and it appearing to the Court that said applicant and said minor are residents of Jack County, Texas and that this Court has jurisdiction of said matter; and it further appearing to the Court that said minor John M. DALTON, is over the age of 14 years and had, before the Clerk of this Court, made oath that he did select said applicant as his Guardian, It is therefore ordered by the Court that said application be granted and that said Wm. B. DILL be appointed Guardian of said minor's Estate and that letters of Guardianship be issued to said applicant on his filing and having approved a good and sufficient bond as such Guardian in the sum of $2000.00 and the return of an Inventory, Appraisement and list of claims herein'  It is further ordered by the Court that Peter LYNN, W.B. MCFARREN and Wm. HENSLEY be appointed Appraisers of said Estate and that they make and return to this Court an Inventory appraisement and list of claims herein within the time and in the manner prescribed by law.

Robert L. DILL to J.B. GRIFFIN

Before me the undersigned authority on the day personally appeared R.L. DILL who after being sworn deposeth and says; that he was well acquainted with W.B. DILL who died in Jack County Texas in the year 1893, his first wife Eliza having died some years prior to that time, that he was well acquainted with all the children of the said DILL which consisted of eight (8) sons and three (3) daughters viz:  W.C. DILL, Jno B. DILL Wm B  DILL Melissa L DILL who married F.G. BUTLER, Jas. DILL, M.L. DILL who married A. ROGERS W.L. DILL Geo. W DILL R L DILL Morgan DILL and infant who died without name- of these children, Morgan, Jas-Geo. W, W.L. and the infant died prior to the death of WB DILL, all without issue,
Those surviving him were M.C. DILL, Jno. B. DILL Wm. B. DILL, Melissa L. BUTLER, M.L. ROGERS now M.L. SHUHAN, that all of the above named were the children of W.B. and Eliza DILL, and were the only heirs of them. 


and there were no issue by the last marriage and the wife died prior to his death and the affidavit is one of the above named children.
