Peter Isaac Tate, son of Mr. & Mrs. Pleasant A. TATE, was born in
Illinois Oct 6th 1858. In infancy he moved with his parents Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Here he lived until he was 13 yrs. of age when he moved to Osborne, Kansas. In
the year of 1881 he married Estella Michael. To this union were born four
children, three daughters and one son all of whom survive him.
In 1891 they moved to Oklahoma. Here on May 12th 1915 the wife & mother
passed away. In 1930 he moved to Haven, Kansas where he lived with a daughter,
Mrs. A.B. SHULL, until his death 9:30 a.m. April 24th 1939, at the age of 80
years 6months and 18 days.
Some 17 yrs. ago he fell dislocating a hip since which time he walked with a
cane. His health began to fail last fall, and he grew worse rapidly the last few
weeks.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Mrs. N.G. ROGERS and Mrs.
Arthur B. SHULL of Haven, Kansas; Mrs. John H. SPARKS of Hutchinson Kansas; and
one son Pleasant A. TATE, Leoti, Kansas; one brother Marcus A. TATE, New
Sharon, Iowa; and seven half brothers: William Curtis, Nathaniel,
Zed, Elmer, and Ora all of Oklahoma and Jessee of Vermillion, Kansas; eleven
grandchildren and four great grand children.
Of a pleasant disposition, he gained many friends where ever he lived, so leaves
a long list of friends and relatives to mourn his departure.
